Conservation loses a champion, and a friend

Jon inspired, mentored, supported and – as he did with everyone – charmed many of us at WWF over the years. He was all you could ask for in a conservationist: a first class scientist, a passionate and effective advocate, and a gifted communicator who believed deeply that there are no sustainable solutions without the support of the people and communities affected. All this made him a great conservationist. His tremendous humour, generosity and gentle spirit made him a great friend.
