We are all so sorry to hear of Jon’s passing. It has been extraordinary the last several days to hear/read/watch all the interviews, media reports and comments from people far and wide, whose lives Jon has touched. His contributions to science, the environment, sustainability, and conservation were significant, but it’s clearly especially in the interactions at that personal level that he resonated so deeply with people around the world.

I am grateful to have intersected with Jon around goats and gardens, the early days of the Wilderness Society, mutual friends, and the WISE Summer Program, and just chance meetings to see his warm smile.
